Creating a website for your business can be a daunting task. You want it to reach a large audience, which means you want it to show your business in the best light. These five tips for website content will help you get started!

1. Check spelling and grammar

We can’t emphasize this one enough. Copious typos scream ‘Unprofessional!’ to anyone reading your content. Check everything twice, and if you have someone else in the office with the time, have them check it too. Odds are a fresh set of eyes will catch something small you’ve missed.

2. Write with authority

No one knows your product or service better than you. Don’t feel the need to be timid when you talk about it. Be confident in your writing (and in your speaking!).

3. Know your audience

Choose your language carefully. Think about the people who would be reading your website. Are they single parents? Are they artists? Lawyers? High school students or college graduates? You don’t want to over-explain concepts when your audience is an expert on the topic and you don’t want to under-explain when the concept is new to them.

4. Keep your content relevant

You want to stay on-brand and on-topic. Regularly losing your point or talking about things that aren’t your service or product will keep people from coming back. They’ve come to your website for specific information. You don’t want to stray too far from that.

5. Be concise

Long paragraphs lead to skimming. Keep things short, simple, and to the point.

Following these five tips will help you get your website off to a great start. Don’t forget to check back here for more tips on digital marketing!
